Musa, kızgın ve üzgün bir halde kavmine döndüğünde şöyle dedi: "Benden sonra arkamdan ne kötü şeyler yaptınız! Rabbinizin emrini bekleyemediniz mi? Levhaları yere attı, kardeşinin başını tuttu, kendisine doğru çekiyordu. Kardeşi dedi ki: "Ey annem oğlu! Bu topluluk beni horlayıp hırpaladı. Nerdeyse canımı alıyorlardı. Bir de sen düşmanları bana güldürme. Beni şu zalim toplulukla bir tutma."

Ve Musa halkının yanına döndüğünde, hüzünle karışık bir öfkeyle dedi ki: "Benim yokluğumda ne berbat bir yol tutturmuşsunuz öyle! Rabbinizin emrini çiğnemede bu ne acele böyle?" Hemen levhaları attı, kardeşinin başını kavrayıp kendine doğru çekti. (Harun): "Anamın oğlu! diye yakındı, "Bu topluluk beni etkisiz hale getirdi, hatta az kalsın canıma kastedeceklerdi! Sakin ol, beni düşmanıma karşı gülünç duruma düşürme ve bu zalimler güruhuyla beni bir tutma!"

When Moses returned to his people, angry and disappointed, he said, "What a terrible thing you have done in my absence! Could you not wait for the commandments of your Lord?" He threw down the tablets, and took hold of his brother's head, pulling him towards himself. (Aaron) said, "Son of my mother, the people took advantage of my weakness, and almost killed me. Let not my enemies rejoice, and do not count me with the transgressing people."

And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said: "Miserable is what you have done after I was gone; do you wish to hasten the action of your Lord?" And he cast down the tablets, and took his brother by his head dragging him towards him. He said: "Son of my mother, the people overpowered me and nearly killed me, so do not make the enemies rejoice over me, and do not make me with the wicked people."
