Bilin ki, şu iğreti dünya hayatı bir oyun ve eğlenceden, bir süsten, aranızda bir övünmeden, mallarda ve evlatlarda çoğalma yarışından başka şey değildir. Bir yağmur misali ki, çıkardığı bitkiler çiftçilerin hoşuna gider. Ama biraz sonra o ot kurur, sapsarı kesildiğini görürsün. Nihayet bir ot ufantısı haline gelir. Ahirette şiddetli bir azap var, Allah'tan bir af ve hoşnutluk da var. Dünya hayatı bir aldanış/gurur aracından başka şey değildir.

İyi bilin ki (tek başına) bu dünya hayatı bir oyun ve oynaştan, albenili bir gösteri ve birbirinize karşı övünme yarışından, mal ve evlat çoğaltma hırsından ibaret olurdu. Bu (tiplerin sonu) şu yağmur meseline benzer: O (yağmurun) yeşerttikleri, çiftçileri/nankörleri pek sevindirir; sonrar kurur ve sen onu sararmış görürsün; en sonunda toz toprak olur. Ama ahirette (böyle olmayacak). Ya şiddetli bir mahrumiyet veya Allah'tan bir mağfiret ve hoşnutluk olacak: Zira (tek başına) bu dünya hayatı, aldatıcı ve geçici bir tatmin aracından başka bir şey değildir.

Know that this worldly life is no more than play and games, and boasting among you, and hoarding of money and children. It is like abundant rain that produces plants and pleases the disbelievers. But then the plants turn into useless hay, and are blown away by the wind. In the Hereafter there is either severe retribution, or forgiveness from GOD and approval. This worldly life is no more than a temporary illusion.

Know that the worldly life is no more than play and distraction and adornments, and boasting among you, and to increase in wealth and children. It is like plants that are supplied by an abundant rain, which appear pleasing to the rejecters. But then they dry-up and turn yellow, and become useless hay. And in the Hereafter there is severe retribution, and forgiveness from God and acceptance. This worldly life is no more than a deceiving enjoyment.
