Şöyle cevap verdiler: "Siz de bizim gibi birer insandan başka şey değilsiniz. Atalarımızın kulluk ettiklerinden bizi yüz geri çevirmek istiyorsunuz. Hadi açık bir kanıt getirin bize!"

Elçileri onlara "Gökleri ve yeri var eden Allah hakkında kuşku ha?" dediler; "O sizi günahlarınızdan arındırıp bağışlamaya ve sizin (hak ettiğiniz cezayı) belirli bir süre erteleyerek, sizleri (tevbe etmeye) çağırıyor. Onlar şöyle cevapladılar: "Siz de bizim gibi ölümlü bir insandan başkası değilsiniz. Siz bizi babalarımızın öteden beri tapa geldiği şeylerden vazgeçirmek istiyorsunuz. Madem öyle, bize apaçık bir belge getirsenize!"

Their messengers said, "Do you have doubts about GOD; the Initiator of the heavens and the earth? He invites you only to forgive your sins, and to give you another chance to redeem yourselves." They said, "You are no more than humans like us, who want to repel us from the way our parents used to worship. Show us some profound authority."

They said: "You are merely human beings like us; you wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to serve. So come to us with a clear proof."

They said, "You are but humans like us, you wish to turn us away from what our fathers used to serve. So come to us with clear authority."
